The DTV (Digital TV) is a novel broadcasting fashion and the future trendy of TV technology. Its applications and value-added services need a versatile Electronic Program Guide (EPG) standard. Integrated with international experiences in DTV, TV-Anytime resolves all difficulties that DVB-SI cannot handle. It provides a feasible EPG solution, and because of its new features, lots of value-added services emerge as the times require. More and more researcher are concerned with the development of EPG using TV-Anytime, and the research in TV-Anytime is a highlight in current research in DTV technologies around the world, which aims at the transmission and access of TV-Anytime metadata. Depending on comparison with various data compression schema, this paper provides two transmission protocols in terms of Zlib coding algorithms. In this paper, two aspects are researched mainly. One is to provide encapsulation protocol for TV-Anytime metadata over DVB, and another is to deal with stream access by protocol FSM and implement XML parser and container parser. All solutions make sure that bandwidth consumption is low and QoS is high.
